Is Xiaomi laser projector good? ›

Great piece of tech. I have the device projecting to a 150 gray screen and absolutely love it. The image is fantastic and setup simple. I've encountered issues with Hulu on the Android TV which was an easy fix by using the hdmi ports with a Google TV and fire stick.

Level of detail. The higher resolution of 4K projectors allows them to produce a sharper, more detailed image compared to standard 1080p projectors. Fine details in images, text, and videos will be more discernible and less pixelated on a 4K projector.

The 4K resolution on projectors can be different from the 4K on TVs. Here the resolution can be 4096 x 2160 or 8.8 million pixels, however, some projectors still use the 3840 x 2160 resolution found on TVs which equals to a tentative 8.3 million pixels.

4K, also known as Ultra HD, refers to a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. That's four times as many pixels than in a full HD TV, a total of about 8.3 million pixels. A Native, or True, 4K projector will deliver all 8.3 million pixels and each pixel is individually addressable on the screen.

Do laser projectors burn out? ›

Unlike a cheap lamp projector, laser projectors aren't going to burn out on you. In fact, the bulb can last an impressive 20,000 hours or more. Even when compared to LED projectors, laser projectors don't need to be repaired as often.

Unlike a lamp projector, laser projector maintenance doesn't involve replacing the light source, but it does involve keeping it safe from damage and making sure it stays clean.

A lot has changed in the last decade or so when it comes to price and performance between projectors and TVs. TVs have improved at an incredible rate, while getting larger and cheaper. Projectors, not so much. OLED TVs offer far better image quality than any projector, and can be had in fairly large sizes.

So for example, the most common projector throw ratio is 2.0. This means that for each foot of image width, the projector needs to be 2 feet away or D/W = 2/1 = 2.0. So if I'm using a projector with a throw ratio of 2.0 and I have an image width of 5 feet, then my throw distance must be 10 feet.

As compared to lamp-based projectors, a laser projector offers brightness that lasts longer, truer colors, improved contrast, almost zero maintenance, and no generation of heat.

Even on a normal white wall with imperfections, Xiaomi produces an EXTREMELY impressive image. I did several tests, and dare I say it, I was impressed. Despite its shortcomings as a UST projector (moderate focus, moderate light uniformity) the image it gives to the viewer is excellent.

Anyone with an experience of the latest projector technology can tell you that laser projectors are objectively better – slicker, with a longer lifespan and sharper specifications all round.
