The UN has featured the Sustainability Hub I launched with the amazing Sally Randles at the Man Met Business School! The team in the Business School are doing some amazing things in the sustainability space and should be on the list of people to speak to for businesses and prospective students alike. It is great to see the Hub go from strength to strength. Congrats to all involved in this and the recent Sustainability Festival!https://lnkd.in/eMVBKDm8

Woohoo! I can finally announce that I have officially been appointed as a Design Council Expert!I'm joining over 200 designers who today join a collective that is dedicated to a sustainable and regenerative future. Together, we will work on impactful projects, shaping policy, and advocating for the transformative power of design in achieving net zero. It's an honour to be in the same group as so many wonderful and talented designers and I can't wait to get started.Stay tuned for more info but in the meantime we will see you at this year's Design for Planet Festival, happening in Manchester this November, and at the World Design Congress in London 2025.Learn more about the programme and our list of experts: https://lnkd.in/e7kYaJEM#DesignCouncilExpert #DesignForPlanet

Last night I spoke at Pechakucha Manchester about how #DoughnutEconomics allows us to have hope in a world that feels increasingly dystopian and fractured. It shows us not what is, but what could be.This reminds us of what we are fighting for... The things and people we love. And when we love we inherently have hope because we fight tooth and nail to see it succeed no matter how dystopian things might feel. And that's what hope is.(I may have also likened billionaires to psychopaths and asked if doughnuts are sexy).Big thanks to Kyle Soo and the team for the opportunity and it was great to catch up with some awesome people (Norton Robinson Corin Bell Carl Quinn Tom Addison John Cooper 👩🏻💻Hannah Cox) and meet a bunch of amazing new people (all of whom I didn't manage to exchange details with so if you see this do message me!). Big thanks also to Laurence Adams for helping with my 'what does Doughnut Economics mean to Manchester' stall! I share details of that soon!Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) Doughnut Economics Manchester Rob Shorter Erinch Sahan

YO, DESIGNERS... I've long been impressed by how you work - particularly your sense of community, methods and general way of working.Design Thinking.Sprints/JamsEmpathy-led practice.Accessibility-first principles.Even things like week notes. These are all things you do way better than the sustainability community (Sorry fellow sustainability pros). This has got me thinking... 🤔 What are other things that sustainability/environmental folk can learn from how you do what you do? 🤔 Is there anything you get wrong that we can learn from? 🤔 If you were brought in to help a business tackle sustainability challenges what tools/methods would you bring with you? What would you leave behind?🤔 What messages would you have in terms of building a stronger community of practice? Please reply in the comments and share far and wide. I'm genuinely interested in this and not looking to seduce the algo or anything like that!Jack Sheppard Cat Drew Jo Barnard Carl Quinn Kyle Soo Design Declares Alexie Sommer Aurelie Lionet Abb-d Taiyo Design Council#design #sustianabledesign #circulardesign
